BOZEMAN ASHIATSU & ASANA | BOZEMAN, MT

Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of working with Lisa from Bozeman Ashiatsu & Asana. I met her a few months back when my boyfriend booked me a massage as a gift... I have to admit-- because I've never heard of Ashiatsu before and hearing that someone was going to be "walking" all over my back, I was a little skeptical... But it turned out to be one of the best massages I've ever had in my life!

Lisa is an amazing, talented human being who has a very beautiful smile, and has the kind of personality you just want to be around all the time! She is very funny, easy going, and her energy is very positive!

I was thrilled when she asked if I would be willing to photograph her in action! I had a lot of fun and it was pretty awesome to see the behind-the-scenes. Her work is definitely not easy, but she makes it look easy! While editing her photographs, I ended up booking my next massage because the pictures alone just made me want one!

The massage room is very comfortable. It's not too small, yet not too big. There is a very huge window, which I never noticed because the curtains are always closed and the lighting dim.

I usually have a lot of tension along my spine, and when I see a regular masseuse, my back and sides end up bruised (I love deep tissue massages). I know a lot of the bruising is from massaging me from the side of bed, and most of the time I get someone who is a little too short to reach my problem areas.

Lisa holds onto the hanging bars, stands above you, and uses her feet and toes to get to the unwanted tension. She doesn't really "walk all over your back," but she may stand on your back (she doesn't put all of her weight on you). It doesn't hurt at all! I always leave the room sore & bruise free! The massages are so relaxing, when it's over I'm stumbling around because I am so dazed and confused-- I tend to fall asleep during our sessions!

Book a session with her... you will not regret it!

Be sure to check out Lisa's website for more photos from our session, her rates (great prices!) and to read a little more about her!

You can follow her on Facebook, Google+, and Instagram.

Here are a few questions I asked her:

Are you originally from Bozeman? If not, where are you from and what made you decided to move here?

I was born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  When I finished college I moved here. I spent time in the Flathead growing up and have always loved the mountains.

How long have you been in business for?

Bozeman Ashiatsue and Asana has been in business since February! However, I've been working in spas and yoga centers since 2006. After falling in love with Ashiatsu I wanted to offer something special and new to the community - that's what really motivated me to open my own practice.

Did you go to school for massage therapy?

I went to Aveda Institute of Minneapolis for Massage Therapy and Esthetics.

What are a few of your favorite things about owning your own business?

I've always worked In spas where employees were encouraged and rewarded to sell more, do more, book more, etc.  That never felt right with my values.  Working for myself I don't have to push anything on anyone.  And I won't! My mission is to help my clients feel better - It's that simple.  I love having my own mission statement that I can reflect on daily that holds me accountable to do quality work.

What do you like to do (or are you doing) when you are not working?

When I'm not working I'm usually hanging out with my pups, hiking, doing art projects or cooking some new recipes.

Anything else you’d like to say?

Don't be afraid to try an Ashiatsu Massage!  It's seriously the most luxurious deep tissue massage one can get!
